Ingredient Overview
Green tea comes from Camellia sinensis leaves processed to limit oxidation. Catechins, including EGCG, are characteristic tea polyphenols that can be concentrated through extraction.
Tea leaves supply a broad mixture of constituents, including catechins and naturally occurring caffeine. Extracts can emphasise different parts of that composition. Green tea’s familiar role as a beverage provides a natural starting point for explaining why the same leaf is also used in concentrated botanical ingredients.
