Turkey Tail Mushroom Extract

Ingredient Overview

Turkey tail is a wood-growing fungus recognised by the coloured bands on its thin, fan-shaped fruiting bodies. The overlapping fans resemble the patterned tail that gives the mushroom its common name. Known botanically as Trametes versicolor, it has a long association with Asian herbal preparations.

Its fungal polysaccharides include beta-glucans, a constituent group that is central to the development of concentrated turkey tail ingredients. The fruiting body supplies the raw material for this extract, bringing a traditionally familiar mushroom into a dry form.

Turkey tail can feature on its own or alongside other mushrooms in capsule and powder formulations. Beverage applications are also possible, with flavour and the way the powder disperses considered in the finished blend.
